Salsa is a changing mixture of styles, as are the people teaching in the club
Local well-known names, and people now famous in the annuls of salsa in the UK have all taught here. Many started their salsa teaching interests in Brighton and then moved further afield. This includes Elder Sanchez, renowned for his sharp dressing and bringing us all some of the first salsa videos to learn from. Colombian in character and teaching style he has organised great bands like "El Gran Combo" to come to the UK from Colombia, and is still teaching in London 16 years after working in Trevor's original salsa club in Brighton.
Ricardo Da Silva, an expert Brazilian dancer, also teaches Brazil's best styles elsewhere in Brighton, but can often be found keeping beginners on their toes teaching basic salsa steps on Friday nights.
Lovely ladies from Tunbridge Wells, such as Miriam, can be seen giving intermediate dancers a chance to improve their looks and style. You might even get a dance with her...if you can cope...later!
Each week there are changing DJs: Steve from London, Katanga from Portsmouth, Yersin appears regularly.
